What equipment do I need to get started?
You’ll need a digital writing device (tablet with stylus, laptop with stylus, or digital pen tablet) and a reliable internet connection (minimum 2 Mbps). If you don’t have a digital writing device, Lightup can provide a digital pen tablet at a reasonable cost that’s compatible with any computer.
Can I really access tutors 24/7?
Yes! Our platform operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Simply choose a time that works best for you and book available tutors during that period. This flexibility is especially helpful for families in different time zones or students with busy schedules.
How much does tutoring cost?
We offer affordable rates that are significantly lower than traditional in-home tutoring. Pricing varies based on session format: one-on-one sessions, small groups (2-3 students), or larger groups (up to 5 students). Group sessions offer even more value while maintaining quality instruction.
What curricula do your tutors cover?
Our tutors are qualified to teach the Ethiopian National Curriculum (Grades 1-12), International Baccalaureate (IB), Cambridge IGCSE/A-Level, American curriculum, and standardized test preparation (SAT etc.). We also offer Amharic language and Ethiopian culture programs for diaspora families.
How are tutors selected and qualified?
